In general, the brain controls the remainder of the body through the nervous system. The nervous system is composed of nerves, which are the chemical messengers for the nerves in the rest of the body. When the nervous system is activated, muscles will contract and the brain will convey exactly what it needs done. One thing that makes this new neurological science so fascinating is that we can understand how it functions. Our brains aren't limited to doing things for us, however, are actually active and accountable for our behaviors and responses. Now that we know more about how our brains operate, we're more equipped to be able to design our lives round the brains we have.
