His new book, How We Learn by Bending the Brain : A Scientist Explains It is a great introduction to the important subject. I have learned several things in my personal life by observing other men and women. His goal was to show how the human brain responds in various ways to various stimuli. He started his study by drawing a simple diagram - a 2D picture representation of the standard anatomic and physiological structures of your brain. His goal was to show how people use their brains in specific scenarios. From the diagram he derived some important discoveries - the nerve cells in the cortex are extremely flexible, they could adapt to changes in the environment, but they're very reactive, because their normal blood flow is reduced. When changes occur, which include reduced blood flow, they cannot respond fast enough, so that they have to get activated and do something about it. He found that different areas of the brain react to various stimuli. This can be true of our visual system and our auditory systemour language system and even our motor system. In other words, Dr. Chan said, you can not learn by studying a novel - you want to read the book to find out. We Learn from Bending the Brain Diagram is a new book by an expert in brain growth and physiology. It will be very valuable to anyone who wants to know more about the brain, how it works, and how it may be used for greater things in life. I, for one, have learned a lot from the diagrams he describes in the book. I adore the way he describes things in such a manner that I can know his message in a few minutes and return and read it several times to make sure I knew what he was saying. The advice Dr. Howie Chan supplies in his book isn't hard to understand and to implement. The diagrams are clear and concise, but still, the points are addressed to a broad audience. His explanations are not meant to frighten you - he doesn't attempt to convince you with mind surgery theories. The book also talks about how mental disorders, like autism, are brought on by neurological problems, such as damage to certain regions of the brain. The next thing I heard from We Learn by Bending the Brain Diagram was all about the way language is connected to the brain. Certain sounds, such as the sounds that we hear in different languages, can have a profound influence on the way our brains respond to the next words that appear in our minds. They could make us receptive to specific overseas ideas and can alter the way we think and react. Dr. Howie Chan has done an excellent job of making the data in his book understandable to everyone. For instance, when he says, reading brain matter doesn't mean reading textbooks, he actually explained why he thinks that. It is thereading part that is confusing. What he implies is that every portion of the mind has its own special role and function. Dr. Howie Chan's How We Learn by Bending the Brain Diagram Is a Great introduction to this topic. He explains how the language and motor systems are connected to the way the visual system works. He shows how reading helps us remember the pictures and help us understand the stories. From a science-based perspective.
